BENDIDA - WINE EXPERIENCES WITH A LONG AFTERTASTE

Bendida is a family winery in the village of Brestovitsa, only about 15 km south of Plovdiv.
It all started back in 1936, when Metodi Portev produced his first wines.
Today, his grandson, bearing his name and passion, is reviving the old winery, preserving the stone architecture, but equipping it with modern technologies, where father and daughter create wines from the vineyards in the region.
Bendida Winery relies on local varieties typical of the Thracian Lowlands - Mavrud and Rubin, Vrachanski Misket, Dimyat. In addition to them, the classic wines Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Syrah and Cabernet Franc are also produced from the vineyards in the Brestovitsa region. Minimal intervention in vinification is the winery's philosophy, with some series entirely focused on natural wines.
The grapes are harvested by hand. The red wines are not filtered in order to preserve their authenticity. The best of them mature in French and American barrels.

The brand "Bendida" is named after the ancient Thracian goddess of fertility, the moon and hunting, and is a symbol of unity and family. It reflects the winery's mission: to preserve the family tradition through wine, inspired by the spirit of the ancestors.
Emblematic of "Bendida" is the Ritual Wine from the Rubin variety, for which the grapes are harvested by hand at sunrise and full moon. It follows the biodynamic calendar, gravity racking and is bottled manually on the full moon. The grapes ferment in 3 open barrels, after which only one with wine is obtained and aged for 20 months in an American oak barrel.
Bendida Winery welcomes tourists only by prior reservation. The winery's city home is "Enoteca Bendida - a place for wine meetings, tastings, team buildings and a company store.
